Product Design in Year 9 is very much about problem solving and planning. The popular USB project requires students to be meticulous with their levels of accuracy and further develops their skill level in use 2D Design CAD software. As in previous years’ skills of analysis, designing, modelling, evaluating and development are crucial and the complexity of the project allows them to show their progression with these.

The project deepens students’ knowledge and understanding of materials, processes and industrial practice whilst never losing sight of the designers need to think of the social, moral and ethical decisions that need to be made when manufacturing products.
