Koln Christmas Market

On the last weekend in November, 37 students of German went on an amazing trip to Köln, in north-west Germany. Despite a rather gruelling coach journey there and back, a good time was had by all. We visited the beautiful cathedral (a designated UNESCO World Heritage site) and climbed up the 533 steps to the top of the south tower and saw the largest bell in the world. Then we made our way to the Chocolate Museum, where we discovered the intricacies of how our favourite treat is manufactured. This included tasting some delicious melted chocolate on vanilla wafers – everybody really enjoyed that part, of course! Finally, we spent the afternoon wandering around the traditional market – around 150 cute chalets selling everything from candles to confectionary and lots of typical German food and drink. All in all, a tiring but truly terrific trip!
