Week beginning 23rd March Year 7 Drama lesson

What you’ll need

A piece of paper and a pen

Task 1 – 15 minutes

Answer these questions:

  1. What is mime?
  2. Why is it important to exaggerate when you are miming?
  3. Why is it important to use detail when you are miming?
  4. Why are facial expressions and body tension important when you are miming?
  5. Why is a slow pace important when you are miming?

Task 2 –10 minutes

Write down everything you can remember about your mimed Circus assessment performance that you started working on last week.

Task 3 – 15 minutes

For the part of the performance that YOU were in, write a paragraph describing what you worked on last lesson. What was the plot/story of your section? Who was playing which characters?

Task 4 – 10 minutes

Underneath that paragraph write down all the ideas you have for how that scene could be improved. What might you want to change about the plot? Have you remembered to break the fourth wall? What could be done to improve the quality of your miming?

 

 

Week beginning 30th March Year 7 Drama lesson

What you’ll need

A piece of paper and a pen. Someone to perform to!

Task 1 – 15 minutes

Answer these questions:

  1. What is breaking the fourth wall?
  2. What does ‘in-the-round’ mean?
  3. Why is it important to keep moving when you are performing ‘in-the-round’?

Task 2 – 10 minutes

Imagine you are a clown in the mimed circus. You are going to do a one-person show in which you are going to try to cook a meal but everything goes wrong.

 

Write down what you should do in the performance. What should happen? What mime skills should you use?

Task 3 – 15 minutes

Rehearse your performance.

Task 4 – 5 minutes

Ask your audience member to watch your performance and then give you some feedback. Write two ‘what went wells’ and one ‘even better if’ on your sheet of paper.
