Home Learning

Whilst the school is closed we will continue to set work to enable students to work independently at home.


Remote Learning Information for parents 
06th January – 12th February 2021 
 

MFL 
Main class work will be set via Google Classroom/email. Live lessons will take place for the vast majority of lessons. If not, teachers will inform students in due fashion and other type of work will be set. Additional home learning tasks will also be set via ActiveLearn/Kerboodle/Linguascope/Memrise. 

History  
For Key Stage 3, classwork will be set via Google Classroom with teachers available to introduce the lesson and answer questions during the first 15 minutes of when the lesson is timetabled to begin.  Some Year 9 lessons will take place on Microsoft Teams.  There will be live Google Classroom lessons for Mr Taggart’s Year 11 class and Microsoft Teams meetings with teaching resources provided on Google Classroom for Ms Quigley’s Year 10 and Year 11 classes.  GCSE students can access the USA and Early Elizabeth textbooks online using the Dynamic Learning platform and the passwords provided by their history teachers 

Geography 
KS3: Lessons will be delivered via google classroom, with teachers being available for the first 15-20 minutes on google meet. 

KS4: Lessons will be delivered via google classroom, with teachers providing a mixture of live teaching and set work. 

KS5: Lessons will be delivered via google classroom, with teachers providing a mixture of live teaching and set work. 

All resources will be shared prior to the start of the lesson and teachers will be available to respond to questions via email. 

Art:

KS3: Work will be emailed to students before the lesson. These lessons are schemes of work which match up with our schemes of work and are produced by the government Oak National Academy. I will provide students with a Microsoft team's link where I will be able to be contacted for the first 15 minutes of the lesson if students have any problems. 

KS4: I will be emailing students resources and the lesson Powerpoints before the lesson. I will be start the lesson off on teams and share the ppt via shared screens and talk through what I will expect from them. I will be attending school in person once a week and will ask the office staff to post home any printed resources students will need.

KS5: Students will be given lessons on Microsoft teams as a whole class and will on occasions be given 1:1 tutorials. Students can email me if they have any problems
 

Drama 

Year 7 and Year 9 – Work set on Google Classroom. Staff available for Q&A via the platform. 

Year 10 –Work set via Google Classroom.  

Live Google Classroom Meet lessons on Thursdays.  

Teachers available for the first 15 minutes of all other lessons.  

Yr 11, 12, 13 – Work set via Google Classroom. Live Google Classroom Meet lessons on a weekly basis timetabled with students weekly.  

English 
All lessons for all year groups are delivered via Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams.  
Some lessons will be delivered ‘live’ and the class teacher will let students know when they are required to log into the lesson.  
Teachers will be available for at least 15 minutes of each lesson, either live or through the facility for written messages.  
Resources for each lesson will be shared by the class teacher and there may be some reading or tasks that need to be completed before the lesson takes place. This will be for mainly 6th form but may be required for other year groups too.  

Religious Studies 
All lessons will be delivered via Google Classroom. RS teachers will be available for at least 15 minutes at the start of each lesson to explain the work, answer questions or give feedback. In addition, Key Stage 4 students will have work set via Kerboodle, Seneca Learning or Sam Learning. And Key Stage 5 students will have access to the online platform Peped. All resources will be shared prior to the start of the lesson and teachers are available via email to respond to further queries in a timely manner.  

Music 
KS3: Work will be set on Google Classroom. These lessons are schemes of work which match up with our schemes of work and are produced by the government Oak National Academy. Teachers will be available at the start of each lesson to kick the lesson off, and will be available on email or the Google Classroom comments sections if you have any problems. 
KS4: Work will be set on Google Classroom and will be linked to our workbooks and powerpoints, as we would be doing in lesson. The start of these lessons will be live, and I will be available on email or the Google Classroom comments sections if you have any problems.  
KS5: Work will be set on Google Classroom. Students should have text books and scores at home with them – please email Mr Gilder ASAP if you need anythning else sorted out for you. Mr Gilder will be available live at the start of each lesson and on email as required.  

Core PE  


BTEC Sport  

All students in Key Stage 3 and 4 will be sent a weekly task to complete via google classroom. As with normal PE lessons, whole year groups will receive the same task to complete for consistency.  

Students will be completing work via google classroom. Live lessons regarding explanation and completion of coursework will also occur over google classroom.  

Science 
All students will receive a 15 minute introduction each lesson incorporating feedback from previous lesson a Q&A section and explanation of the work via the google chat facility. Students will be completing tasks sent through Google classroom that link directly to their kerboodle Activate or GCSE textbooks that they have access to online. Most classes and topics have remote learning booklets already issued to girls. Future topics will have electronic versions of these but parents can ask for paper copies to be posted by contacting the school.Some year 11-13 lessons will have live elements incorporated into the lesson via Google meet. 

Design and Technology 
 KS3 lessons will be delivered via Google Classroom. DT teachers will be available for at least 15 minutes at the start of each lesson to explain the work, answer questions or give feedback.  

KS4 lessons will be via Google classroom with double periods generally used to complete students NEA task. During some periods, students may have individual meetings with regards to work for their NEA task. This will occur once the teacher has addressed the whole class at the start of the lesson.  

KS5 lesson will be delivered via Google Classroom. Teachers will be available for at least 15 minutes at the start of each lesson to explain the work, answer questions or give feedback. DT Food  Technology
KS3 lessons will be delivered via Google Classroom. Food teachers will be available for at least 15 minutes at the start of each lesson to explain the work, answer questions or give feedback.

Computer Science 
KS3: Recorded lessons and resources will be made available to students on the day of their timetabled lesson via Google Classroom. Teachers will be available for help or questions during the first 15 minutes of the timetabled lesson via private message on Google Classroom. 

KS4 students will receive either live lessons via Teams or recorded lessons via Google Classroom. All resources will be placed on Google Classroom. 

KS5: Live lessons will be held via Teams with resources placed on Google Classroom.
