Physical Education
Our vision
As a department, we aim for inclusivity. Our curriculum, vision and ethos offer all students the opportunity to learn new skills, develop existing skills, transfer knowledge and skills across sports as well as develop their personal skills through leadership, communication and teamwork.
Students are assessed in KS3 as a coach, a analyst and a performer. Each sport we cover assessed students in one of these key areas with their end-of-year assessment being average on all through across the academic year. This assessment process allows all students the ability to achieve in physical education.
All students across the school are given the same sports listed below. In KS3 the focus alongside our assessment policy is skill acquisition, knowledge of rules and regulations and communication and teamwork.
In KS4 our focus shifts and learning becomes more about installing the knowledge, skills and motivation to continue leading a healthy and active lifestyle post 16.
Years 7-11 (Core PE lessons)
HT1 (Sept to Oct ) - Basketball and Football
HT2 (Oct to Dec) - Gymnastics and Netball
HT3 (Jan to Feb) - Multi Sports and Short Tennis
HT4 (Feb to Easter) - Trampolining and Badminton
HT5 (Easter to May) - Athletics and Volleyball
HT6 (May to July) - Athletics and Rounders

Term 1 - Preparation for Component 2
Term 2 - Component 2 : Taking part and improving other participants' sporting performance
Term 3 - Component 3: Developing fitness to improve other participants' performance in sport and physical activity
Year 11 BTEC Sport Tech Award
