Daily Update on Coronavirus (Covid-19)

16th March 2020

Re: Daily Update on Coronavirus (Covid-19)

We are continuing to pay close attention to all the advice from DfE and Public Health England.  Although current government guidance is not to close schools, we have met with students today to remind them of the various means that we have for setting work if they are at home.

Over the coming days and weeks we will ensure that we have appropriate work ready in all subjects across all year groups to maintain the continuation of learning in the event of a school closure. Should this take place, we will communicate with parents the nature of the work and the means by which it will be set.

Current advice is that we continue to plan for all exams as normal and we are continuing to prepare students for these exams.

Students have been informed of the importance of washing their hands regularly with soap and water or using hand sanitiser and to use a tissue when they cough or sneeze. Government advice remains that students should stay at home for 7 days if they develop a fever or a new cough. Please inform the school office as normal in the case of any absence.

In addition to taking care of our physical health, I would like to remind students and parents of the importance of looking after our mental health at this challenging time as well. I would urge you to ensure your daughters are limiting the amount of time they spend on social media and that they are accessing correct information as mis-information and false reporting only adds to rising levels of anxiety that the current situation is presenting.

We will aim to keep you updated as developments occur. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do contact the school office.

Yours faithfully

Catherine May
