Merchant Taylors - Birmingham Concert

100 years since the end of the First World War

St Saviour's has a long relationship with the Worshipful Company of Merchant Taylors who are long-time supporters of our school and our students. This year, in order to commemorate 100 years since the end of the first world war, all the schools which benefit from their relationship with the Merchant Taylors were invited to perform a concert in Birmingham Symphony Hall as an act of remembrance.

St Saviour's students were part of a smaller choir taking part in a piece of music composed by Simon Couldridge, Director of Music at Merchant Taylors School, a choral setting of Siefried Sassoon's poem Everyone Sang accompanied by brass band, organ and percussion.

The concert culminated in a performance by all the schools of Mozart's Requiem, a fitting tribute to the dead of all wars, accompanied by a full orchestra.
