CoPE – Certificate of Personal Effectiveness

This course is fully approved by QCDA/DCELLS/CCEA and is available at three levels. The aim of the qualification is to enable students to develop and demonstrate a range of personal, key and employability skills leading to personal effectiveness. Through the diverse range of assignments in the course,  the students are able to broaden their experience and manage learning through the enrichment activities. In order to gain the Certificate of Personal Effectiveness, our students are expected to:

  • Take responsibility for planning, organising and carrying out a number of activities or challenges
  • Develop and provide evidence of working with others, improving own learning and performance and problem solving
  • Develop and provide evidence of the skills of research, discussion and presentation
  • Produce evidence of your achievements in a portfolio (file or folder)
  • Help you build your record of achievement

There are six key skills that the students need to demonstrate in order to complete the course namely:

  1. Working with Others
  2. Improving Own Learning and Performance
  3. Problem Solving
  4. Carrying out a Piece of Research
  5. Communicating through Discussion
  6. Planning and Giving an Oral Presentation

At St Saviour’s & St Olave’s school, our students are given the option to do CoPE Level 2 and progress to Level 3. After completing all the challenges in the course the students get formal accreditation.
