On Wednesday 1st May a group of year 10 French students were privileged enough to go on a residential trip to Paris. The trip was very educational and it was very exciting to experience in real life the French culture that we have been learning about since year 7. We loved Paris and we went up the famous Eiffel Tower and were able to appreciate the breath-taking views.
We had a very busy few days and visited many of the famous Parisian attractions including Sacré Coeur, Montmartre, the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysées, the Centre Pompidou and the Bastille.
We posed for photographs outside the famous nightclub where the can-can is performed – the Moulin Rouge.
We did lots of walking especially along the river Seine and we also travelled on the Paris metro. We sampled French cuisine in restaurants in the evenings but we especially loved the delicious crepes and waffles that we bought as snacks during the day.
We had some time for shopping and were able to buy some souvenirs and gifts for our friends and families. Probably the thing that we enjoyed the most was seeing the Eiffel Tower illuminated at night with its beautiful flashing lights.
We had to speak plenty of French and we learnt a lot of history as well. On behalf of the whole group we would like to thank Dr Bishop for helping us to pay for the trip with her generous subsidy and also Miss May for allowing us to be out of school for 3 days. Of course we are also very grateful to our teachers, Ms Hicks and Miss Pagliero for taking us and showing us so much of this wonderful city and helping us to have such a good time!
